Hive7 AJAX virtual world in beta

Hive7  is a virtual world using AJAX and is sort of like 3D chat mixed with MMO components (and hence why I’m slotting this as “other MMO”). Hive7 has something SL sorely needs: a built-in browser. It is currently in beta and the initial browser load time for me on fast broadband cable connection was painful, well over a minute. When it finally loads you are in a room with a bunch of avatars.

I didn’t know which one I was, so I typed ‘test 123′ and then I could see a caption near my avatar which I clicked and dragged above the others. Then I could right click and register for Hive7. I experienced several “protocol lost” messages trying to register and it didn’t like my + in my gmail addy, converting it to a space. It’s beta, so probably needs more time to bake. Will check back on this one later because it looks promising from Om Malik’s screenshots with the built-in browser.

Update 10:27am SL: Robert Scoble points out that it isn’t really 3D because you can’t turn objects around.
