Click to see more posts by TD GoodliffeOn taking vacation from virtual worlds

I haven’t written and barely have followed what’s been happening in Second Life and the whole MMO scene the last month. Thanks to fellow VTOR group member Lestat for writing a couple posts to keep the embers glowing.

Where have I been? First we took our annual family summer vacation and second was my wife was going in for a surgery on her neck. I’ve blogged these RL events elsewhere, so I won’t revisit that here, however this did get me thinking about taking scheduled virtual world vacations. It’s logical to take these at the same time as RL vacations. It might even be a good idea to schedule a few virtual vacations when you aren’t taking a RL vacation just so you can gain additional perspective. When you are too close to something you can begin to lose some perspective about the overall importance in your life.

The process of getting back into SL has been a slow one. In fact, I still have many unread stories on the SL front to get through.

I did see that Linden Labs shut down some of their forums and have made several changes to the client interface including the bigger and brighter group notifications pictured above. On Friday during our Script School radio show which is broadcast inside SL another resident I’d never met before named Loki stopped by to update our group on what he learned at SLCC and his experience the last four months as an SL resident. I might clip out that audio and put it here since I think it was useful information.
