SL could be selling last names in summer 2006
One of the first things that bummed me out about Second Life was that I couldn’t pick my own last name. I don’t mind Goodliffe, it’s sort of grown on me since it sounds a lot like “good life” with an extra “f” but I would have chosen something original if the option was available.
Lots of information in the SL Forums including this 18 page thread which talks about the possibility of buying a last name someday. And update to the thread by Robin Linden on 3/26/06 notes:
The project is scheduled to start soon and should take 8-10 weeks to complete. Unless other priorities take its place, it should happen sometime this summer.
Will you be in line to buy a name if the price is right?
