In the newest Metaverse Messenger there is a chatlog from a 3/6/2006 where privacy, among other topics, is discussed:

Gwyneth Llewelyn: ok. So… my question is… if this really takes a major revamp of the whole Im system

Gwyneth Llewelyn: and we’ve heard Phoenix today — it *is* being rewritten, partially at least, and low level for now

Gwyneth Llewelyn: I would think that changing things now… when new things (Jabber?) are in the future

Gwyneth Llewelyn: is really demanding a bit too much

Gwyneth Llewelyn: I’d recommend: people have lived for 3 yars with the current system

Gwyneth Llewelyn: we’ll start on ‘education’ now — no Linden time needed :)

Gwyneth Llewelyn: and get all the remaining features on Flip+s proposal

Gwyneth Llewelyn: ready for Jabber or any upcoming major rewriting

I’m not much of a chatter type but I can see the privacy tools being helpful when busy working on projects so one could see a better presence indicator besides just everybody being online or offline. Some possible presence choices could be optionally automatic too like when the script window is open to show “online/scripting” or when editing objects on land “online/building” or when attending scheduled events “online/event.” That kind of thing would be helpful I think to somebody about to IM and not wanting to interupt someone on that first contact. What do you think?
