SL liveblogging and Homerun Derby snapshot set 1 (of 4)
Over the next few days I’ll be publishing snapshots taken during yesterday’s Homerun Derby. Also wanted to mention a new blogging from SL project called bloghud that I learned about today. I’ve heard several different blog/RSS-related projects were in the works inside SL. The concept of blogging from within SL isn’t new but it has gotten more interesting since HTTP capabilities were enabled. Also, when HTML on a prim is developed it will make it so residents can just login to your existing blog programs to blog (this is partly why my SL-to-blog development waned).
The blogHUD is not publically available yet and in very early beta testing. Blogging to a third party site from inside SL isn’t of much interest to me but I’ll follow up on this one when the HUD becomes available to other residents.
Those in our VTOR group know I’ve had a blogging project in SL going for quite some time now [see: VTOR: Feb 18, 2006].

I also have a domain for the project [slblogbar.com] which the name gives some hint as to what it involves.
Probably should get my butt back in the coding mines and finish the interface now that the HTTP functionality is available. It doesn’t sound like my project and blogHUD will be quite the same thing, although the kosso hints at future capability to crosspost to other blog systems in his description.
Anyway enough about blogging from SL for now, let’s review the first picture set (of 4) from the 2006 Homerun Derby:

This was the best event I’ve attended in Second Life to date. Commercial-free live streaming of a MLB event? Outstanding. Huge props to all parties involved.
