Testing in SL 1.9.0

Last night some of us were invited to check out the latest version of SL again. From the instructions given to us it seemed that they were doing a stress load type of check. There were quite a few avatars in for the preview/test. I would say at least 100. The land area where we were had boundaries of sorts. I’m thinking that it was a controlled test of 1 SIM. We did the following…

• IM’d several people all at once.
• Teleported to 1 location all at once.
• Flew as an entire group to a particular location.
• Bought and sold items with the given $5000L (Not transferable to the current version)
• Logged in at out all at once - several times.
• At the end of the test we all TP’d over to a ‘dance club’ Loaded heavily with animated prims.

Of course being the nut that I am, during the testing I Rez’d my attack helicopter and gave er a spin. That didn’t work out too well. It sped up to it’s highest speed and uncontrollably spun around the boundries of the test land with no control - what a ride! The only way to end that was to logg off and back on again.

At times while we were flying as a group we seemed to move like molasses. We were told that the load was being monitored, and they were making adjustments on the fly to observe the outcome.

I DID notice that logging on and off was much much quicker. I wish I took more snapshots but I didnt think of it

While at the dance club I did manage to find someones TP to the SL Moon. The area was quite small, but it was neat. There was a space station of sorts, and a spacey building. No the Moon is NOT round. I took a risk and decided to fall off the edge of it…

Eventually after many MANY meters I stopped falling and got stuck. The only way out was to logg in/out again. I did try to see if I could view SL from the moon - but all I could see was another moon. Won’t that be neat when there are more than 1 worlds! I’m thinking we probably need to create more land in the existing world first…but who knows whats being planned for SL?
