One of the regular Secondcasters and resident fashion businesswoman, Torrid Midnight is taking a leave of absence from Second Life:

I never thought I’d be one to do this but for the sake of my own health and sanity I have to. I’m going to take a break from SL. I’ll still come in world now and then to check things but for the most part I’m staying away from the computer. I’m going to spend time with my family, my friends, and take care of myself in real life. I’m going to think about what’s important to me and why I get up every day and as much as I care for my friends in SL and my loyal customers, they’re not it.

As someone who currently has one foot in SL and the other out, I hear what Torrid is saying. SL is a very immersive site and can be a time sucker if the majority of time isn’t spent exploring and learning new and different things rather than getting caught up in the overwhelming amount of drama, glitches, problems and other negativity. Then again, real life can be the same way, this isn’t unique to virtual worlds.

But hey, the Linden dollar isn’t doing that bad, opening today at L$277. There’s always a rainbow somewhere.
