abcisland001.jpg ABC (Australian Broadcast Corporation), is the first major corporation in Australia that has gotten behind the virtual game Second Life and the third most visited commercial island.

Unfortunately, they got griefed. For those that don’t follow terminology, a griefer is a lesser desirable that hurls insults, and all in all try to break things and make your life a living hell. In hacker analogies, they’re pretty much similar to script kiddies. No one likes them, no one wants them, and they just wreak havoc in most online communities. Similar to trolls.

Unfortunately for ABC, griefers came by and dropped what looked like a bomb. There was a huge crater and logos of other corporations thrown about. The picture to the left depicts what it looked like before the griefers struck. Some think that the logos were put there to throw off investigators on who did what. Personally, I find it amusing that some think it’s jealousy by other corporations. No one in their right mind working for a corporation would try to throw their logo on it as a sort of “rivalry war”. In most corporations, that’d be pretty much grounds for firing.

It took hours to repair the damage, but it seems like it’s finally fixed. This just goes to show that some people gain pleasure out of destroying other people’s work. For shame, for shame.
