Developers dreaming of web on a prim in Second Life

While perusing the Ubrowser FAQ this morning, which I wrote about here at VTOR in February of last year, I came across this Q&A (emphasis mine):
When will this make it into Second Life so I can use “Web On A Prim”
Two questions there really. This code will be rolled into the Second Life codebase once the small Win32 dependency in llembeddedbrowserwindow.cpp is removed. As far as Web On A Prim goes, there is still a lot of work and design to be done before that can happen. My work on other parts of the code such as bugfixing and scaling has a (much) higher priority so it’s going to be a while. I do continue to work on it in the evenings so progress is being made - albeit slowly
I was curious when this page was last updated since there was no date visible on the page or in the Q&A, so I tried a little PHP Kung Fu but no help there, the server header was set not to return a page last modified header. The Ubrowser news page was last updated March 14, 2007 where uBrowser author Callum Prentice indicates he started a Google newsgroup page:
Anyways. Even though I manage to reply to about 50 emails a week relating to uBrowser, I’m still awful at updating this site. I’d like to share the load.. I mean joy of discussing this stuff so I created a Google group here for people to discuss anything that’s related to uBrowser, LLMozlib - even Linden Lab and Second Life if you like.
Scanning through the low activity I didn’t find any additional news as to when this might become available yet, but it is encouraging to see work hasn’t died on the project. Personally, I’d rather see web on a prim than voice but the latter seems to be coming before the former.
The screenshot above got me thinking about my dice cube and a possible web permutation someday. Imagine rolling a dice with six different web pages? This got my mind buzzing with some fun possible applications.
Yes, grid stability still the priority
Before new features I still believe grid stability is paramount, so readers shouldn’t assume by this post that I’m in any way favoring adding any new features to Second Life with the current conditions. Rather, I’m saying once grid stability is maintained web on a prim should be at the top of the list if it isn’t already.
