Dungeon Runners leaves invite-only status, download and free play now available

Previously available by invite only, Dungeon Runners MMORPG is now available. It’s a 428MB download but this morning anyway the server was moving swiftly.

While downloading, you’ll want to create a PlayNC master account. It took a good 10-15 minutes to receive the validation code at my chosen email. Once received, enter into the confirmation form and then you need to choose the “buy serial number” in order to play. The bottom choice is for Dungeon Runners and marked as *free. The asterisk indicates players are responsible for internet fees.

Click on the “Get it now” button to get a free serial code and then create your account to login to Dungeon Runners.

The screenshot to the right shows other games by PNC including Guild Wars and City of Heroes / Villains, two MMORPG on my like to try out someday list.

Looks like they are going with the Runescape style monetization model with optional members pricing at $4.99/month. You can play for free but to wear special army and/or explore special quests and dungeons players will want to sign up for a membership. I decided to give the free game a try and am checking it out. Wanted to share with other VTOR authors and readers this is now available without a special invite.

Here are a few in-game screenshots. You can choose between a rather paltry three classes: fighter, mage or ranger. The world servers aren’t that crowded yet, but one of the first complaints I saw in chat when entering the world was about sluggish gameplay.

The first character I created was a mage.

After mapping the arrow keys (why weren’t they mapped to begin with) for movement, I was off to adventure and battle.
