Entropia V9.0 preview
According to the Entropia Universe site version 9.0 is comming. Unfortunately it’s still TBD.

Though they haven’t come out and said what exactly all the changes are, they did mention some graphics changes. Like the Shadow Armor set pictured here. Graphics cards with pixel shader 3.0+ is recommended to get the full effect of the new changes, though older cards will still work.
Here’s a list of some of the graphics changes;
- Increased Polygon Count
- Higher Resolution Texture Maps
- Normal Mapping Technology
- Reflective and Glossy Surfaces
- Redesigned Armor/Clothes/Avatar
- Dynamic Level of Detail Technology, which allows crowds of hundreds of simultaneous avatars to be in one place while maintaining a good frame rate. (Take that SL!)
- Advanced Shader which allows realistic combinations of leather and colored clothes
All these fancy changes before MindArk even adds the Crytek CryEngine. I hope these changes keep coming. So far all of them seem to be positive. One thing I’ve noticed with EU, is that after changes are made, about 98% of the time they are successful, and don’t include grid outages and missing inventories unlike another particular world I can think of.

i will agree that version 9 which was released today looks pretty and upgrades many area’s of entropia, trade terminals etc… but with it comes a hefty “no no”. Mindark has introduced a “Decay Tax” in version 9 which basically means: every time you switch weapons, clothes,amour ,chips, anything, it’s “health” will decrease which means you have to pay tons more to get it repaired unless your using an “L” piece, in those cases, its worthless! this is such a shame, i logged on today and half of my friends on EU have packed up and sold all their possessions because of this decay tax! seriously! EU was such a great game, why did they have to **** it up?

I definitely agree with you Damien. I find Entropia is a love/ hate MMORPG. The people I’ve spoke with who’ve played it either love it or hate it. Obviously the players love it. That said, Entropia seems like a limited audience. I really don’t think they can afford to make a move like this with the flood of new MMORPG’s out there.
