SL auctions registration process goes wonky

This morning I tried to sign up for the site sl-auctions.com. After filling out all my registration information and going to the second page where I was supposed to be able to pay $2 via PayPal for a lifetime membership an error occured and my browser (Flock) crashed. I checked my email and had a welcome email with my login information echoed back to me so I tried logging in to continue the registration process. Check out the message:

SL auctions registration process goes wonky

Suspended before getting completely registered? If that’s not strange, check out what happened when I clicked on the contact link:

SL auctions contact page is blank

Contact … how? I replied to the welcome email I received and am awaiting details. If anybody reading can successfully register, they are running a contest now giving away L$100,000 every week to one new registration every Monday who registers and starts at least one auction. In light of my experience, maybe they should be paying everybody who tries to register.

Funniest site registration experience I’ve had in awhile, thanks for the chuckle, sl-auctions.com!

Update January 5, 2007 7:04am PST: Yesterday I traded multiple emails (see comments below) and was advised to send $2 USD via PayPal to billing at sl-auctions dot com. The first email had the PayPal address wrong so I needed to clarify. I sent the money yesterday afternoon and emailed them back. This morning I tried logging into SL-auctions and it still shows my account as “suspended.”

SL auctions registration process goes wonky -- my PayPal receipt

Fellow VTOR author Weirdharold reports in the comments below that he was able to get through the process without error, so hopefully my experience is rare.

Update 1/5/07 10:31am PST: After another email, I’m in. Whew!

TD I no problem with the registration process. I haven’t received an email from them yet but only completed the process a moment ago but am on the site now and logged into the members area to list a sell.

I’ve been waiting to update this post when the issue was completely resolved (not yet as of this comment). I’ve exchanged some emails with the sl-auctions.com site owner and sent payment to the correct paypal address. It appears if something breaks down in the automated process, emailing back and forth and manually submitting the payment is the solution. For anybody else that runs into this problem these are the details:

    sl-auctions contact info:
    contact at sl-auctions dot com

sl-auctions PayPal address (put the registered name in the comments so they know who to credit):
    billing at sl-auctions dot com

I’ve got a receipt for my PayPal purchase, so just in the waiting mode for them to manually activate my account now.

I would recommend you visit the ultimate sl auction site at slauctions.co.uk who have nothing to do with sl-auctions.com and also charge no fees and have loads of inworld activities.

    Kind Regards
    Roger

Second Life residents no longer have to settle for old school web-based auctions. BidSL is now open in Second Life which allows SL residents to auction their creations, land, used items, services, etc. to others. This takes place entirely in Second Life. There is of course no “fee” to join BidSL. Why exactly were you expected to pay $2.00?

You can find BidSL in SL (search BidSL) or visit our website for more information BidSL.com.
