Google Maps mashup of Lord of the Rings game map

Unofficial Lord of the Rings Google Maps mashup by jshanman from arda-online.com which self-describes their community as a:
… fansite devoted to playing, supporting and discussing the MMORPG Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. We work hard to document and map many parts of the game including quests, items, npcs, resources, and much more.
(Note to fellow author, JohnnyRS: tthe arda-online link might be another good one to add to the links at the end of your post: A helpful post to lotro players)
I don’t visit many tips or strategy guide type sites, preferring to figure most of the stuff out myself through the gameplay and/or talking to other players in world. There is something about exploring a new area on the map that you haven’t seen before very similar to driving to a place in real life without looking at too many maps or guides in advance. For those who like having detailed maps, sites like the one mentioned above might come in handy.
We haven’t activated our second LOTRO accout yet, first one was done at the end of April. Maybe this weekend because I realize the offer to activate and keep all characters created during beta is time sensitive. If any readers are in the same boat, don’t forget to set yourself a reminder. I believe the deadline, although I didn’t verify and please don’t quote me on this without verifying, is Thursday May 24.
For readers interested in creating their own Google Maps applications, check out the Google Maps API. Console game, RSS and blog related but not LOTRO or MMORPG related is the news that earlier today Google Reader (RSS reader) released a Wii-friendly version.
Happy gaming to you!
