Hello there
Well… I have been slapped on the wrist for blogging rather than talking, but have been told in no uncertain terms that Joystiq and weblogs simply ban anyone who proves to be a nuisance, and the lead blogger may take any arbitrary decision about this alone, with no consultation at all.
I’m afraid that as their interpretation of team is somewhat different from mine, and their decision to allow banning of people just because … I can’t stay, and have resigned, although I shall probably get a notice in triplicate that tells me I can’t resign until I have jumped through a couple of hoops.
It seems that in any case, even if they had gone with the team decision, I would have been way outnumbered, so I don’t think that would have made much difference.
Maybe I am naive or stupidly idealistic, but I think it isn’t possible to say that you are in favour of free speech if you deny that right to your critic. I hardly ever agree with Prokofy, and he has often said things that are totally untrue about me and others, but that still doesn’t seem like a reason to ban him, to me.
I do wonder about these people who apparently tell others that they would post if it wasn’t for Prokofy. I really thing that those people ought to think twice about posting anyway, if he scares them enough to put them off posting. Maybe I am wrong, and the SLI blog will somehow blossom with comments and new readers, all of whom creep out now that Prokofy (and I) am gone. Maybe….
Anyoldhoo, I am persona non grata at SLI now, but very happy to join the team at VTOR who, from what I understand, really ARE a team, and have team meetings, take team decisions, and behave like … a team!

Welcome to VTOR Caliandris, I haven’t had the pleasure of actually meeting you in Second Life, (or if I have can’t remember it) but have read many of your articles.. even quoting a few. I think you will be a wonderful addition to the Team here at VTOR.
I do hope you aren’t here for all the money:) cause if that were the reason you will be sadly disappointed… at least for a while yet. Although I think your presence here will help make this blog more profitable and will help draw a larger audience.
Anyhoo, I just wanted to say WELCOME and that you will be a valuable asset to this community!

Were there any comments which I missed by Mr Neva? Because from all that I saw, he left only a few which seemed quite measured, apart from on the one post made recently which was specifically about him, and not in a flattering way. And a response to such a post is only to be expected. Perhaps there were ones which I was unaware of.

Why Herro there, Cali!
Watch out for that TD dude, I hear he’s shady.
I’ll read everyone, I’m prolly pals with the people who made the decision or share the view about banning, but hey, people can disagree and it’s all good!

Indeed, welcome Caliandris! If you need any help or have questions with the internal mechanics stuff (blog posting, image posting, pages, etc) feel free to hit me up any time. You know where to find me

Welcome Caliandris! Hope to read some great stuff about Second Life and I’m sure we can all work as a team to make this blog a very good resource.

Eric/Spin — you dog, you! Long time no talk. Where you been on my friend’s list? You down at CES now or what?

No, Ordinal, that’s what I was waiting to find out, but apparently there was no posting in particular that went over the line, it was just the cumulative effect. I did feel angry that I didn’t get a say, when it seems that both Aimee and Tateru were consulted, but more angry really about the principle of the thing.
It’s apparently a non-issue to the others, because it is normal practice to ban people who are a pain in the neck on Weblogs, it seems, which isn’t something I was aware of at all.
I have been absent for most of the past month due to illness, and was only just getting back into the swing of things, and it is tricky on a team blog that isn’t really a team blog to know how much disagreement is healthy and permissable. I totally deplore the posting by Aimee which appeared to minimize the impact to Prokofy of having people invade your RL from SL, and thought it was provacative. I assumed initially that he must have been led to step over the line with some posting or personal communication which I wasn’t aware of, or had been expunged, but that isn’t the case.
Thank you to all for your welcoming comments :-).

If this issue about Prokofy being banned from SLI didn’t come up with your SLI post, I would have never even known about VTOR. So I’m glad to have found this great site. I’ve missed your posts on SLI recently and was starting to read it again when you got back, Caliandris. So I’m naturally going to migrate over here to read your posts.
