Mysterio Gallery opening

I felt that my SL life had come full circle when I was sent an invitation to the new exhibition at Mysterio Gallery on Saturday. When I was first in SL, I was very taken with my avatar and took various artistic shots of Cali, which I attempted to sell from the only open market then, in Purple. I was laughed at pretty roundly, although I considered them pretty and artistic. Some people pointed out that generally, the only person interested in a portrait is the subject of the portrait or their mother, and that I would be lucky to be able to persuade people to take a copy with a twenty linden bounty, but would never persuade anyone to part with $20 linden in order to buy one.

Average pictures

The new exhibition at Mysterio is by Callipygian Christiansen, a display of avatar portraits. I’d say it was a mixed show… some of them are very good, so lifelike it is hard not to wonder how much photoshopping has gone on… others seem pretty ordinary portraits. The hard fact is that in some cases the difference may be down to the quality of skin worn by the avatar, too. However, I thought it was an interesting exhibition and well worth a visit.

not so average palomerian mysterio

The very pretty avatar shown on the right here goes by the name of Nosehair.  Hard to know how to reconcile ugly name with pretty avatar, it causes a disconnect in the brain, lol. Don’t forget to check on the upper floors to see Enjah Mysterio’s own colourful pictures, which are SL versions of her real life art.  Enjah always puts together interesting exhibitions, and organises the openings really well to ensure that they get visitors and some coverage in the SL blogs too.  Her events are a model for anyone wanting to hold successful exhibitions in SL.
