Announced in the Second Life Blog on Tuesday, January 30, 2007, Linden Lab admits it has been slow in adding new land to Second Life resulting in increasing Land prices. The excuse is somewhat understandable as they have been concentrating on delivery of private islands ordered at the end of 2006. The lack of new land, along with the increase in the population of Second life had pushed land prices to around double the value of November land prices.

When land was put on the market it was very often bought up by people using robots as high speed land scanners to skim off the lowest priced land. Linden Lab also stated they are looking at adding a step to teh purchase process of land which should make it more difficult to use robots to purchase land.

The article on the blog goes on to state that a substantial new continent will begin to appear of to the east side of the mainland, which should help stabilize the price of land.
