No millionaires at the Stagecoach Island yet
Kudos to Wells Fargo for creating one of the nicest corporate Second Life front end private islands over a year ago that they call Stagecoach Island:
Stagecoach Island is an online virtual world created by Wells Fargo. You can explore the island and its hidden secrets, connect with friends and make new ones, and at the same time learn smart money management.
This sounds like fun, now check out the screenshot below:

“Smart money management” hasn’t led to any Stagecoach Island millionaires? Not even one over the course of a whole year? I know this might sound impatient, but time moves faster in virtual worlds. It’s one of the first things we learn. Maybe they shouldn’t be showing a big goose egg on their site, as it’s not a great motivator. Perhaps they should lower the counter to six figures so more will qualify?
And only $6 in interest earned for the last 24 hours? The number jumped to $16 just before I hit publish so maybe I had just hit the reset time?
Update 11/29/07 4:38pm PST: Thanks to csven in the comments below correcting me that Wells Fargo isn’t using Second Life but Active Worlds. The rest of my questions still apply. Why are they advertising zeros?

They’ve been on Active Worlds for the past year, not SL and relaunched their Active World-based effort a few weeks ago. The SL effort never went beyond testing. http://blog.rebang.com/?p=531

Thanks for checking out the Stagecoach Island Community Site. We just introduced a series of new features to the game, one of which is a change in virtual economy from “dollars” to “shells”. Since shells are worth more than the island bucks we used in the past, the economy looks a little different now. As a result, we are making some changes to our blog home page, and are in the process of adjusting the area that displays the interest earned and virtual millionaire statistics. Check back soon to see the updated page, and click the link below for more information on the economy change. Come visit us in world if you have a chance!

Thanks csven, I’ve added an update to clarify. My questions still remain valid, why promote zeros?

Ahh Casey, thanks for the clarification. That makes more sense. Go ahead and return with a comment when your new economic system is updated.
