No teleport workaround

A lot of people are asking in world how they can get to places when teleport isn’t working.  The only workaround that I know is to change your preference to a set location while offline.

The way to do this is from outside SL.  Start up SL as normal, and wait for the window to load.  Click preferences, and then choose the top link on the left hand side “general”, and change the start location at the top on the right hand side from my last location or home, to a specific location in SL.

In theory, that should bring you into the specific location.  You can change this for another if it doesn’t work, or if you wish to start up somewhere else the next time.

If you are on a sim which is directly next door to another, you should be able to fly from one to the other, although sim crossings have also been a bit unreliable recently.  I usually look as though I am crashing, flying out over the sea, and then find myself zoomingback to where I should be - a bit like a brief out-of-body experience… except I bring my body too lol.
