Another planned update (1.13.2) is going to be taking place on Wen. Jan. 10 from 7am-12pm PST. A new download will be required to be able to get into Second Life upon completion of the update.

Now why the new update?

I think the new update is required to fix the many problems caused by the last update. There doesn’t seem to be much in the new update that is new or original to this update. I guess we can only hope that Linden Lab only does a better job of actually fixing the problems they caused in the last update.

While the grid is down for the update, you may like to check out the beta version. Putting a nice test load on the beta could help find areas which will need to be fixed in the next update… before it becomes a part of the main grid.

update: As fellow VTOR author and good friend TD Goodliffe pointed out to me in the comments of this post.. I got lazy to a large degree and didn’t follow through with any facts to back up this post… I think I was simply making a personal comment on the state of updates more than anything, but he is quite correct in I did get lazy on this one.

I have to remember from time to time there are readers here at VTOR that aren’t associated in any way with Second Life and personal comments in a post of this nature could unjustly slant their opinion and possibly cause some confusion.

Well I am going to remain lazy, as I don’t have time to really cover all the issues on a morning of a busy day for me… So I will simply point you in a direction where you can take a look at the known support Issues (LINK) in the last viewer and hope that tomorrows update’s list is much smaller.

Harold - peer review, hope that’s cool. This post is an example where not having additional supporting text actually hurts the clarity of this post.

Specific examples of the many problems caused by the last update that will be fixed by this update? Might want to add an update to this post (not a new post) with this specific information. From a reader perspective it is unclear to me specifically what you are referencing as to problems caused last time and fixed this time?

Not trying to stick up for Linden Lab here as I’m fairly certain what you wrote is factual, only somebody coming from the outside to read this that hasn’t been following the viewer changelog (hint: link the changelog at least) is going to say … huh, what, where?

As readers, we got the when and how and why, just not the ‘what’ and ‘where’ parts. Hope you find this helpful and look forward to an update. Happy to help flesh this one out further if you want later.
