Runescape: Virtual Game without the High Demands
Runescape is a MMORPG game on the Internet using java code. No program to download or install. Should work in any browser including firefox and opera. My first RPG game that I played with others was tele-arena on a local Bulletin Board Service in the 80’s and 90’s but was only text based. Runescape reminds me of that game but bigger, better and with graphics. I found the game when it first started but the graphics didn’t look as good as I wanted. 2 years ago my nephew was talking about this new game he was playing and showed me the improved version of runescape. Much better graphics and animation but nothing compared to WOW or Second Life. For me that is good because I can do other things while I play. The graphics could be compared to a game called Diablo.

The game is free to play for everyone and does have a member section which costs $5/month. I’ve played the game for more than a year as a free member and had a lot of fun. There are three main ways of killing other players and monsters. Using a sword (melee), bow and arrow (archer) or magic (mage). There are quests to accomplish and skills to train. It’s not all about killing monsters because you can train in cooking, fishing, crafting and mining. Every skill can be trained to get better stuff which can be sold to other players who need it to go on quests, kill monsters or other players. This is the big part of why I stayed playing in this game. If I get bored doing one thing there are more things to do.
Warning before you enter the Wilderness!
There is one section called the wilderness where players can kill each other. When a player dies they will lose everything they have on or carrying except the 3 most valuable items. Lot of players get gold pieces, armour and weapons from killing other players. Some will train only one of their skills like magic so they can be strong in magic at a lower level. These people are called pures. There are different levels with rules in the wilderness. Level 1 wilderness would allow players to attack other players 1 combat level above or below themselves. Level 13 wilderness would allow players to attack other players 13 levels above or below themselves and so on. This is the reason why people who pk choose to be pure so they can look weak but have hidden strong combat, archer or magic levels.
When someone kills another player they get a skull over their head to warn others as seen in the picture below. If a person with a skull gets killed they will lose everything they are carrying and wearing! One of those risks you have when pking. The good thing is that none of the quests require you to go into the wilderness. I love going on the quests and training my skills mainly.
Person Killing or Pking in Runescape
As a free member you get access to a smaller world and able to do more than half of the skills available. Some of the good skills are for members only like Agility which allows you to run faster and longer, Fletching to make bows and arrows and construction to make your own house. I spent over a year as a free member and got my character to a level 60. I am now a member for 2 months which I will talk about in another post. Free players can go on over 15 quests which can be easy or very hard.
Some fun things to do in Runescape
There are over 100 worlds to log into and the max amount of players for each world is 2000. Paying members have different worlds to log into which are less busy. When I was playing on a free world it got very frustrating mining the same rocks as other players, trying to find a good place to kill monsters or being followed and asked simple questions found on the website. I am proud getting to level 60 without having to be a member. Took a long time and frustration but it can be done. A free player gets very little space in their banks compared to a paying player. Free worlds do not have mini-games where group of people can play a small game inside the bigger game. Some of these mini games are not dangerous to your character. So if you die in a mini-game you won’t lose anything.
Fighting creatures in Runescape
If you’re looking for a game to play with other people and won’t take over your computer then this is a good game to at least try! If you like it and want to be a member it only costs $5 a month and if you cancel you can still play the game but without the membership benefits of course. This is a big benefit to me compared to some other Pay to Play games. I could cancel my membership and still have fun training and chatting with others in the free world. You can also place a person on the friends list which will allow you to message them in any world! You can also see what world your friend is playing in so you can join them.

The only other non-members quest which gives magic experience is the imp catcher. You’ll get a bit more than witch’s potion. Two fast ways to level up magic is to teleport over and over again to falador or go to the top of the wizard’s tower and attack the lesser demon behind the cage. Also using confuse, weaken, curse and bind on enemies will get you some good experience if they don’t hit you too hard. You could use those magic spells on cows or chickens. Low level alchemy is another good way but you’ll need to get some natures runes which is not easy in the free worlds.

Hello Andrew, to get a lot of nature runes to cast bind and stun, as JohnnyRS was saying, I would suggest going to the wizards circle that has black wizards. The black wizards circle can be found near the south entrance to Varrock. These black wizards frequently drop nature runes, and several other runes needed for magic.

Runescape was the best and most realistic MMO i ever played
I loved it till i got banned for language problems (lol).
I got up to combat 86 and loved my skills like hell. Runescape near became my life.
Now i have quit. I wasted all that time but at least i’d enjoyed the experience…..
I cant go back because I will be a lvl 3 and even with my knowledge, the “bigger” players
will likely start up the problems again….
If you get a nice levelled acct but got banned…
Dont go back. Even if ur like me and couldnt find another game that can match with Runescape.

it seems as though their trying to profit off nearly-high level people who got good too quickly.
does it occur to anybody that jagex people can be players themselves, very possibly? now what do they have to gain by banning people like us? first thing our gp and hard earned armors. then they get to reduce the amount of crowding on their worlds. also they dont refund us our membership fees either so its become like free money for them. game graphics are pretty good for a online-based java-powered MMO. jagex is probably just looking for excuses to *seize* people’s gp. they can like send fake nice people to give u free stuff, then go *OH THIS IS AN UNBALANCED TRADE!*, and declare u as a real world trader.

Runescape and Jagex are totally awesome the only reason you guys don’t like it is because you broke the rules too many times and got banned…..Well thats your fault you break the rules and get banned and blame it on somebody or something else.It is not Jagex’s fault you got banned its your fault for breaking the rules.

Runescape is the best game ever i am addicted to it, i got banned with my first account cause i was new and i give my friend my pass and he take it and he was swearing and stuff and he got banned that was lvl 39 something like that then my second account which i love most, i dont’ know how but after like 4 month from my holiday i try to log in and i can’t log in it even say my pass is wrong and i even try to search my name on hiscore cause before my account was on hiscore, man i miss that account anyway, now i got new accoutn which is lvl 62 and member and i loving itttttttt,,who ever is complaining about runescape go and complain other people not jagex, if u get banned that ur fault and get over it…anyway runescape is the best game ever and i probably will play that game until i died (lol) hehe…welll i will add u hotty

howdy im a high lvl. i enjoy runescape but was recently hacked…..lost alot but oh well just a game. I discovered i was hacked by a key logger..( a virus downloads onto your computer and logs all the keys you press and to what program you press it on. This information is sent back towards the creator of this virus.) For all RS players im advising you to change your password every other week to avoid hacking. Bank pin doesnt matter; if a hacker knows your password he can perminantly control your account. Also once the hacker has your password, he/she can delete your recovery questions.To all those who got banned for swearing and breaking the rules…..unlucky and play by the rules and you wont be banned.

Been playing runescape for years, got to level 124. My advice is to stick with one account, dont create more, you will just waste your time. Also, do godwars, I have earned 70m there. They ruined it with the recent update though =(. Goodluck everyone!

Runescape used to be the game with the worst graphics and the best gameplay; now its the game with the worst graphs and gameplay. Jagex made an huge mistake on purpose to anger all Runescape players or had a huge accident. Because of the loss of the wildenss many, i mean many Runescape players have quit, including me. The wilderness was our area to pridfully attack other players with vengence. Now its a dump that we use to burn our garbage. The main thing i have to say it that JAGEX is run by stupied 30-50 year old dumbass’s that do not know the meaning of PROFIT.

OK i noticed some players are only 7 years and play runescape!and there lvls higher than yours@!!! so hahahaha!anyway, i had a problem downloading. took 3 hours!i hate runescape anyways theres nothing to do once ur lvl 140! y completed everything!excepty one.runecrafting is only 133. well i train every skill really its mage range cooking and fishing wcing my mage is 44 im a level 54 i have 51 range and 60 wcing my fishing is 54 and 61 cooking about the upates i dont care i risked alot in the wildy and its your problem you got hacked!!!! my brother is lord eli56 and he has 60 str and i only have 44!! if you want to be friends im frodo-4102.

this guide needs some updating. The wilderness is completely gone (pking with that), trade limits and the grand exchange should be factored in, and of course, runescape hd. The graphics are improved and I dont think they resemble diablo any longer.

i know one thing for sure, if u complain to jagex about being abused by there staff or if you complain about being mistreated or muted /banned for no reason they will not look into it for ur sake they will make ur life a living hell, they banned me permantly , i complainted everyday saying they got it wrong, after 7 months soemone grew a brain and unbanned me, i asked them what about my 3 months of membership i lost, ? the answer: be glad u are still ingame.. no iam not glad u are thieves u banned me for no reason then stole my money, so i complained, after that jagex is trying hes best to make my gaming life a living hell, they are honoring all reports made against me no matter how silly they are, even if i win a appeal the keep me muted for 24 hours, instead of unmuting me directly,
if you got a valid complaint go to the watchdog.co.uk website and fill in a official complaint, the more complaints arrive there the better chance we stand in takiing action against these obviouse thieves..
cause they think they are international they can not be touched, well they are wrong, the law of the country there server is in counts..

lol of course hackers are prepared….I would have the change password and delete recovs screens up before I got the password (saying if I was a stealer, I’m NOT)..it’s not even hacking either it’s stealing..you had to have given them your info or something before they got you…….It truly does suck though. The last response is like 3 months ago so I doubt anyone will reply to me…about that guys ban..I doubt that..although I hate when a staff member of something bans you for no reason and of course they get their way because they’re staff…I don’t see Jagex doing that though……Jagex owns..RuneScape owns….So many quests and they add new ones all the time..they release new content like every 1-2 weeks, graphics own for a Java game, so many skills, fun magic spells (Vengeance and Barrage)
…although tbh I wouldn’t play at all if I was a non-member..soooo boring when you are..only if you were a member though cause most likely you have mostly member stuff and your bank is filled way past the non member mark and you have to get used to some losses of being a mem….RuneScape has to be the best browser game if not of all computer games….and aye..Andrew Gower aint cryin’ when he has made over 210 million dollars……

you know, i hate that it is so easy to get other stats up over others and that you have to try so hard to make money when others get a lucky drop from the falador party room or somethin… im lvl 104 and im thinkin bout quitin…
