We’ve all seen Ruth, that homely little alien-like character that we all rez as whenever we come in-world or TP to another location. Usually, we evolve so fast to our usual lovely avie selves that we never see her, but sometimes when lag is bad, she hangs around with her chunky body and bad newbie hair. But now, a new art exhibit at the Simply Elegant art gallery celebrates Ruth with a collection of resident photographs documenting their own inner Ruths. (More info here.)

“Ruthed! And Other SL Mishaps” shows all the ways things can go wrong, from Ruth to grayscale outlines, odd black patches, twisted limbs and crossed eyes. At least, she doesn’t discriminate, taking over even the most beautifully turned out avies. She’s especially entertaining when she invades a male’s pumped-up six-pack-abs shape, forcing him to wear her sizable rack and booty.

De-Ruth with ‘Edit Appearance’

If you wait long enough, you’ve eventually evolve into your regular shape, but if you just can’t, go into “edit appearance” (right-click on yourself (Apple-mouseclick for Mac users), then click out. Presto change-o! Ruth be gone! Much less violent than the de-Ruthifyer that I got somewhere, which shoots you into the metasphere for no apparent reason. (Thanks to the always-gorgeous Grace Rhode for that tip!)
