One of my favorite places to learn about new SL-related projects is in the resident-run websites area of the forums. It’s here that Brixio Sodwind started a new thread on Valentine’s Day to announce:

Out of frustration with the SL Search function, we were looking to find a directory of SLUrls on the net. We found only very few and none very good. So we set out to build one ourselves.

The project SecondLifeTree.com (or SLtree.com for short) offers a directory of SLurls. A good idea but one that could become a problem because of the dynamic nature of in world areas. In the year that I’ve owned my TD Scripts store and land, I’ve seen the properties around me change several times. I’m curious what Brixio and company will do to ensure that SLtree database remains fresh? Dead links plague all link lists but there is no equivalent in SL of a 404 checker, at least that I’m aware of.

Also for some categories like “blogs” where I submitted VTOReality.com it would be nice to see a hyperlink to the website instead of text only (and a 404 checker could be used on these links). There were two other fields “thumbnail” and “avatar” that allowed input but don’t seem to do anything. I left Brixio a question about this in the forums and am awaiting a response. Maybe Brixio will read this and stop by and answer these questions in the comments here for other VTOR readers.
