One man’s Opinion

Shooter Stringer

Brand new to Second Life, Shooter Stringer, took the stage; maybe because of all the hype I had recieved from my musician friends about how good he is, I was disappointed. Not that he was bad, he has a really nice voice, but I was told he was better than a couple of the better performers in Second Life.

Actually Shooter is very good; I was just disappoined because of the hype. He sounds like someone we would hear on the radio, just not a super star. I can not really call his sound country, nor can I call it folk… more ballad than either of the other. Rather easy listening, but without a pure emotions flowing from him.

If you like easy flowing ballad type music… he would be a good listen for you, and since I am not hyping him up in this review…. Maybe you will be impressed… but if you just want to listen and be entertained, you wouldn’t be disappointed …. unless you are looking for rock.

Shooter is great, he soft calming voice is just fantastic. True someone looking for rock might not like him, but then thankfully SL has more variety in music than just rock. I had a fantastic night on Thursday listening and dancing to Shooters very romantic and soothing voice. Ask any woman that heard him what they think. I might add that he is also much better than many male performers in SL, in my opinion there are few really good quality male singers in SL, but like you it is just my opinion.

As an SL performer, I will not give my obviously biased opinion on Shooter Stringers performance. But my remark is more for Harold, not that it will change your opinion of shooter’s style or performance….but in all fairness to the performer, making an opinion based on thier FIRST SL performance is unfair. ALL of us know how it is to be a noob in SL, even when you dont have the added frustrations of learning how to stream, doing soundchecks etc. It is challenging to say the least, and DOES take away from your concentration of capturing an audience. I dont have a problem with your reviews at all!! I believe all opinions and criticisms can be useful for a performer, depending on what they are trying to accomplish. But at least give a performer a chance to get a feel for how it is to entertain in SL (it is much different than a LIVE audience in RL) Entertainers and performers in SL rely on ENERGY of an audience and it does take more than your first hour of playing to get a feel for this energy. There is room in SL for alllll types of music and thank god we have a variety in SL. How boring it would be if we all sounded the same!! :)
