I once came across someone who spent a lot of time on her own plot of land, because she couldn’t see to get around once the sun went down.  As she was delighted to discover, hoewever, one of the useful things about Second Life is that if the time of day doesn’t suit you, you can change it.

Just click on world at the top of your screen, then go down to “force sun” at the bottom of the drop-down menu.  A new menu drops down to the right of force sun, which allows you to choose your preferred time of day: sunrise, noon, sunset or midnight.

I often find myself choosing noon when I am exploring, although there are some places that I would choose to set at midnight, mostly for fireworks or lit builds.  The great thing is, you can switch it whenever it suits you — or look at the same place in a variety of lights.
