It was by no means meant as a criticism of the campaign...more thinking out loud about what can be done, and how can we make it.

I did have one idea, but hesitated to put it into action myself. how about setting up profiles for Adel Hamad at MySpace, Bebo, Yahoo 360 etc? Also, if his wife and children are struggling, what about benefits which raise money for them as well as the profile of Adel Hamad and the cause of the people in Guantanamo? What you did right was to turn him from a number into a human being, someone that people could identify with, and epmathise with, and the more you can do that, the more likley it is that it will gain support.

I will do everything I can to keep this in the forefront of people's minds. If you want anything done in Second Life to help, I am more thasn willing to do it. I plan to send out copies of the poster with a clickable link to the web page to everyone on my calling card list, which is several hundred people, and ask them to send it on to others. I will ask my friends at the Guild Network for ideas too.

You are right that Project Hamad membership has not gone viral yet. But Adel Hamad has gone viral thanks to Project Hamad. One month ago he was a relatively unknown detainee, with maybe 4 or 5 mentions in a Google search. Now you can find hundreds of mentions of him on the web, hundreds more in blogs. Amnesty has agreed to take on his case as one of their action points for their activists. One of the biggest newspapers in Sudan, his home country, just ran a front page article on him etc. I too wish that this incredible spread of discussion about Adel Hamad's case was reflected in our membership count. But keep in mind that little acts like posting about him on your blog are culminating into something significant. If you have any ideas or suggestions how we can more effectively translate this into membership let us know. And thanks again for your support.

David at Project Hamad

p.s. read our new post which updates the situation regarding U.S. citizens and habeas corpus on our blog

Speaking of Judy Garland, there is a popular new group on Yahoo called JUDY GARLAND EXPERIENCE. They have amazing audio files, photo's lively discussions, and more! The membership is incredible. It features Judy's family members, her biographers, old and new fans, people who saw her perform, people from all walks of life!
