The Girlfriend Experience
Tonight will be the first chance to experience a new multiplayer game called The Girlfriend Experience. In this game one is supposed to enter into a real-life person and use that person as an avatar. Hmmmm…. now remember the avatars are real people, so to get them to trust you and perform special tasks, you first need to get to know them to find out what is possible. Rudeness most likely will get your “playtime” cut off.
According to their website, today will be the first chance for you to give it a spin. The site says from 8 until 11 in the evening, but gives no clue on the time zone.
To “play” you must have Skype 2.0 or newer installed with headphones and microphone attached to be able to receive video. With Skype installed, you are to click on an avatar who is available and have 10 minutes to get to know him/her. When your 10 minutes are up you will be automatically disconnected, but there is no limit on the number of times you can call.
When I was checking out the site, there were only 4 people/avatars… with both girls busy and one guy free or available and one guy offline. The availability of the avatars/people is updated every 10 seconds, but when one came free I clicked on it and was told that I was trying to reach an invalid Skype number.
Maybe they were testing trying to work out all the bugs before the opening of the site… I am not sure what was going on. Therefore I really have no idea how the “game” is actually played, but thought you might like to know about it anyway.

TD, there were apparently so many wanting to try it out that they reduced the calls to two minutes, and I still couldn’t give it a spin. Guess I will not be one of the first to give it a try.

Bummer, another idea that doesn’t scale very well yet, eh? Maybe some other VTOR author or reader will try this out and report back their findings.

Have You Had The Girlfriend Experience?
For all the time people spend worrying about how to make their avatars look in virtual worlds, why not just get a real person to be your avatar, in the real world? That’s exactly what The Girlfriend Experience offers, though it’s hard to te…
