Visiting the Linden Village and public office schedule

Did you know the Linden Lab employees have their own village inside Second Life? I knew that several of them had homes, so it makes sense they’d be grouped in a “village.” Also knew they made objects to share with new residents and held public meetings inside SL.

But did you know they also hold public office hours where they encourage other Second Life residents to meet with them? I didn’t.

From the “Linden Village” notecard (Help Island 4 74,133,22) which shows as being last updated 2/3/2007 12:00pm SL time:

One place you can often find us these days is an area on the mainland called the “Linden Village”. Pathfinder Linden originally started the Village because he felt it was important for Lindens to be seen and noticed, giving Residents an opportunity to learn more about us by exploring our homes. The Village also gives Lindens a chance to own land next to each other, thereby creating meetings spaces where they can interact with Residents. Additionally, the Village is intentionally located immediately around the Waterhead Welcome Area which encourages exploration by new Residents.

My personal experience with Pathfinder Linden is one of mostly frustration trying to get him to acknowledge the existence of the VTOR blog. I sent several emails and made a forum post (when you could make forum posts), none of which generated even a one word response from Pathfinder. I did receive a response on the forum from another Linden telling me that Pathfinder was busy and would drop him a note about it.

Still never heard anything back.

Seeing that Pathfinder holds public office hours and shares them using Google calendar has given me renewed hope in meeting him directly and asking him to please add VTOReality.com to the list of Second Life resident-run websites/blogs.

Conducting a search for “Linden Village” and the one and only mention here at VTOR was by Caliandris on January 20 in the post entitled Linden Answers forum closed (emphasis mine):

[The Lindens] are offering the Knowledge Base, which has enormous holes, the public bug tracker, which has lots of bugs missing, and foraging in the Linden Village, as alternatives to the Linden Answers forum.
