VTOR passes 100 subscriber mark

Some might be put off by posts like this, but others enjoy the transparency of this blog as we share just about everything happening including how much money the site generates, the traffic numbers (via third party stats) and what authors here are splitting (how many blogs do you know that do this?), so I’m sharing another VTOR milestone: this blog has surpassed the 100 subscriber mark. While this might not seem as impressive as reaching the first 1,000 unique visitors or 10,000 unique visitors, it means 100+ readers like you felt enough of what we’re doing to subscribe.

Yesterday checking out Yahoo Pipes seems to have given us a shot in the arm to get over the 100 subscriber mark:

VTOR passes 100 subscriber mark

It looks as if VTOR readers currently prefer using Bloglines as their reader of choice although Feeburner indicates that Google Reader which is very popular does not as of this writing share subscriber stats:

Google does not currently report the number of subscribers to your feed when it requests the feed, so the number of subscribers you have on Google home or Google Feed reader may be underrepresented by an unknown amount.

Hopefully Google will change this and start reporting the number of subscribers in the future as these are important metrics to publishers and advertisers.

Next stop with your help: 1,000 subscribers
Of course I’m biased but I think what we’re doing here at VTOR is important and valuable. If you agree and like what our VTOR group is doing please share VTOReality.com with your friends and family and tell them to subscribe.

Advertising rates for February 2007 updated
If you operate a business, please consider contacting us about advertising as our efforts are completely advertiser supported. Ad rates for February 2007 have now been updated. If you are still on the fence about advertising, look at the third party stats and see that our traffic and subscribers are on the rise. As you can see from the third party stats (Feedburner) graph below VTOR is growing and would like to find some good advertising partners to team up with in 2007 and beyond.

We’re interested in advertising VTOR elsewhere too
If any VTOR readers have good suggestions where we can advertise elsewhere either in the virtual or real world that has good returns for fair rates please use the comments below to tell us about it. Understand that we still basically have no budget but our group discussed yesterday that we need to start the promotion phase to help get the word out about what we’re doing here, so we’re willing to kick in (some) money to advertise elsewhere.

We rented a spot on a blog last week using the Blog Explosion rental service and that had decent returns. I just went through the list and put in bids on five more spots this week, two of which have already been accepted (thank you), so that should help spread the word a bit.

Thank you for visiting, reading and welcome to all new and existing subscribers.
