Want to upgrade your notebooks graphics card?
One of my biggest gripes about my preferred computer, a laptop, has always been the graphics card, and my inability to upgrade it. Thanks to AsusteK it appears that is about to change. According to the website announcement on January 6, 2007, Asustek launched the XG Station. Becoming the first company to release an external graphics card station for notebook computers.
The ASUS XG Station includes USB 2.0 and Dolby headphones, and integrates notebook computing with PC graphics power. The ASUS XG Station brings the power of a dedicated 3D graphics engine to the laptop through an Express Card slot, and will accommodate future graphics technology, such as HDCP and HDMI. The unit has a dedicated control panel to
let users control settings through a GUI based interface and easily
switch modes between the notebook screen and an external LCD monitor.
The ASUS XG Station is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 2007. The full package will include the station graphic docking station, a ASUS EN7900GS/2DHT/256M graphics card with a nVidia GeForce 7900GS GPU on board, and assorted accessories.
