Linden’s latest version upgrade not only broke the online numbers but apparently they broke the web interface for counting the number of online friends too (bug found by Eloise Pasteur).   Go figure that I ran across a similar issue that could be related last night and this morning.   So far, while running the MacOSX client version 1.16.0.5, I’ve encountered multiple instances of bumping into friends face-to-face but having them not show up on the friends list as being online.   It’s sort of flaky and on and off, but so far, one friend even went through the trouble of rebooting completely and it didn’t show up.

Based on what Eloise said, I’m wondering if perhaps there might be a corrupt database somewhere.  While that doesn’t explain her count issue, it would explain why certain friends are not showing up while others are with the friends list.   I suppose I could go track it down with JIRA, but who really has actually bothered to use that scary interface and lived to tell about it?

In this case, it’s totally freaking me out.  I mean….really, how am I supposed to know who’s REALLY my friend?  Do I really have any friends?  Maybe this is just a figment of my imagination and I’ll wake up from this bad dream…
