Click to see more posts by TD GoodliffeSL land sells … and then sits [extra prim space?]

Sold most of my SL land a couple months ago and went from paying $8/month to using less than half of the 512m provided to paid accounts. The curious thing is what has happened with the land since the new owner took over.

Nothing. In the old days (ouch, can 1-2 years ago be a long time ago?) this size land would likely have been used for something visual. The most likely use would have been to split into small sections and put up a bunch of gaudy virtual real estate signs. Or [gasp] how about a neighbor building a house or business next door?

Alas, that doesn’t happen as much any more. I’m sure the current owner of the land is using it for prim space. You don’t just buy up a bunch of land and let it sit. Or maybe you do.

What are your virtual world neighbors doing with their land?
Question for other Second Life land owners: what’s happening with your virtual neighbors? Building new, innovative businesses? Constructing elaborate homes? Are they doing much in world or just letting tumbleweeds roll across their plots? I couldn’t see paying for something that wasn’t being used very much.

    Count your blessings!

Some people pay for a 60 day or year long account but then get busy. Or they just like the idea that their ideal virtual land is “there” and keep paying for it, just like they paid a bunch for cross-country skis that they only keep in their garage and use only once a year.

Perhaps, the new owner is waiting to see what you plan to do with the 16 sqm and 144 sqm parcels you cut out of the the land - prime roadside parcels — before selling it to her. She fears you plan to put up one of those ad farms, which would then make her new land totally worthless.

The new owner does not enjoy paying tier for land she cannot use, so why don’t you be a nice guy and sell her those two parcels so she can build the structures she wants there and get good use out of the land, the kind of good use you had when you owned the whole parcel?

HazeLee - I’m not about to put up any adfarm. The 16m is for our group that we’ve had established for over 2+ years. The other land is enough for me to put a tiny structure if I want down the road and/or develop with some small amount of prim. I could have used the whole 512 I have coming to me but chose to leave that to the new owner.
