SPORE getting 5 star rating love, only 19 days left

Soon we’ll be able to experience Will Wright’s long awaited masterpiece: SPORE. The September issue of Penthouse has SPORE getting 5 out of 5 stars and comes with heavy praise including: “You will never finish this game. There are four billion planets to explore…”

Four billion with a ‘b’ and the creature count is only increasing as the launch draws nearer, wow!

The stats via Sporepedia indicate that some 2.7 total creatures have been created to populate the SPORE universe. There are close to 900,000 people belonging to the SPORE community at the time this post was written and 5,659 who joined over the last 24 hours. Full stats are shown in the screencap below, but it’s safe to say that SPORE curiosity is not waning.

I’m hoping to get my firsthand look at SPORE at the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) that happens two weeks from now here in Seattle. Although I’m not getting official press credentials or anything, I’m planning on covering the event all three days and spending a good amount of time there. Two of our teenage sons are planning on competing in game tournaments there as well.

I’ve been thinking about a 3, 5, or possibly even a 10 day countdown to SPORE event here at VTOR, what do you think? Something that would showcase different aspects of the game. This is the #1 game I’m looking most forward to in the near future. What games are you looking forward to?
