Towers of Jadri

… unfolded before you is a new and foreign land. In this world, the trees are greener, the sky is brighter and the air is fresher. Power surges through your veins: you have become what you have always desired. Your fantasies have become reality. This is who you are … … magic and war rages to life about you, but it does not seem out of the ordinary. It is normal and natural this existence is normal and natural. You see your hopes and dreams come to life, but the Earth is dying and the people are Her only hope. In this world, you must make your own salvation. It is your destiny. This is who you must become …

Muds.   One of the premier multiplayer online games since ages ago and many people don’t even realize that they’re still around.   These days, they’ve become more of a subculture than the main stream but even so, it’s fascinating to many.   Mainly for those that are more inclined to dream up the characteristics in their heads and use a lot more imagination.A little background.

I first started mudding back in high school. A friend got me into a Robert Jordan muds and for a while, I just leapt right in without even knowing the story line. There was a lot to learn, but eventually, I even got around to learning what I needed to know and making many new friends in the process. Players beware, The Wheel of Time series is not something that is easily mastered when thrown right in the middle of things much like most roleplay based muds. It takes some learning of the background stories and how everything works together. The last mud I was a part of was called The Creator’s Shadow, a ROM based mud.Well, eventually a couple of us got together (Jurin, Jiriki, Moebius and moi aka Magnus) and figured that it was time to take it on our own. We had first created a mud based on the Sword of Truth series but we decided to go with a custom theme after some though. Jurin wrote a story line that was pretty interesting that drew some of the crew and we started our own little place on the Net. That was back in November of 97. Now in 2008, Towers of Jadri is over ten years old and still beating.

If you’re interested in the type of MUD, here’s the Mud Connector information page.   If you’re looking to immerse yourself in a fantasy land that is totally unique and original and looking for like-minded people then it’s definitely probably worth a look.  Just fire up your fave telnet session and hit jadri.com 4000 .
