Virtual Worlds Coming Your Way: Forrester

The highly respected digital research and consulting firm Forrester gets it:

“In five years, enterprise versions of online virtual worlds like Second Life will be just as important to business as the Web is today, and the trend will make it useful for companies to begin experimenting with 3-D online environments for in-house collaboration projects.”

This contrasts with a report another research firm, Gartner, came out with a few months ago that pooh-poohed the need for Second Life in particular and virtual worlds in general.

Forrester sees a growth potential in using virtual worlds for training, collaboration and brainstorming and seminars/workshops to avoid the expense of hauling people across the country, housing and feeding them. Now the question: Once the company event is over, will they let people out to play? The strip clubs need new blood!
