Why Papa John’s should start working with Sony and Microsoft
You might think it’s silly, but heck… it’s already been done in Second Life, so why not?
I think that it’d be great to be able to order pizza in Sony’s XMB, or eventually Home. I’m not sure that Microsoft’s Xbox Live could do it since I don’t know the interface, but it’d definitely be a good fit there too. And why Papa John’s? Why the heck not. They were after all the very first large scale pizza place that I knew of in college where you could order online completely.
Just thinking from a perspective of Sony’s Home or XMB, it would definitely be wonderful to be able to set up an account and set it up for pizza delivery. In fact, it would work even with Bluray movie watching, which would be absolutely fantastic to just pause, switch screens, order pizza, and go back to the movie. That’s something that you used to only be able to do with a computer.
Would you do this? Personally, I would. As much as I like my video games, sometimes it’s just a pain to pause, go find a computer, order delivery, and go back to the big screen. It’d be so much easier to skip some of the steps by doing it straight from console. And personally, it sounds to me like it would be a great mixture of reality and gaming which is what Sony wanted anyways when it came to “entertainment” centers versus gaming consoles.
Pizza ordering coming to your gaming console? Maybe. It wouldn’t be difficult to set up, and you know that everyone loves pizza.

With the ability to easily develop applications on the Xbox 360 with the XLA framework, it should be a simple matter to get Papa Johns to develop the programs needed to order pizza’s online. I’m sure if they wanted to, they could do it. With the PS3 the architecture is a little more rigid and inflexible, I’m not sure you’d be able to do it.
