amazon-trade-in

Amazon has turned up the heat on the used market by setting up their own Amazon Trade-In Store. Here, you can basically trade your video games in for the credit that’s displayed and print out a shipping label and send it in. Once it’s verified, Amazon credits your account with the credit.

Now, there are two great things about this little move by Amazon.

First, is the fact that the used game market is basically pure profit. Outside of the shipping costs, Amazon’s move here is actually helping out their own bottom line by moving into an area that is dominated by brick-and-mortar establishments and provide their usual quick delivery system and apply it to this.
Second, this also forces the hand of GameStop whom does not post their used game buy-backs online. While you can always call, it creates a rift between the gamers whom usually want to get the best bang for buck, and would like to see if there’s a way to improve their earn backs with their games.

Amazon tests their supply chain to actually do a reversal and be able to receive as well as they give. And if they’re successful with this store – of which I believe will be – then, they will be in a prime position to take over the used market or at least compete rather fiercely. There is a huge reason why in the bad economic times, Amazon still posted some amazing earnings while other retailers did poorly during the holiday season. So if you’re looking for that great buy and sell market, look no further than the new Amazon Trade-In Store.
