HOME: Red Bull racing – beauty couldn’t hold my attention
So it’s been a bit since I’ve been able to log into my PS3 (mainly because there’s not too much going on in that realm that I care about until mid-February), but I figured that since I had just finished watching an episode of Naruto: Shippuden, it might be worth the time to check out that racing area of Red Bull’s that was on Home. I mean it couldn’t be that great that there’s a line at this time of night, right?
Boy was I mistaken. I have to say that flying the planes has got to be more fun than the rest of the areas that are open. Which is probably why it was crowded. But overall, even though it was a well-built area, I found a couple things that were lacking from this. First, there was no way to figure out if you were in line to race, or if you were in a queue, whereabouts you were in that queue, and if you were going to fly at all. After several minutes of moping around I decided to get the hell outta dodge.
When it comes down to it, there are also certain things that “reality” doesn’t really fit in. Especially in these virtual worlds. One of them is limiting the amount of things to do and then expecting everyone to mysteriously figure out when it’s their turn. There needs to be a lot better interaction and better interfacing rather than eye candy. Little by little, Sony is failing at their virtual world mainly because they didn’t test, didn’t release with enough content, and really just let it out into the public when there was the eye candy but nothing else. Poor fanboys. Disappointment is spread all around.
