It’s been a little while since I’ve <strike>read</strike> <strike>looked at</strike> goggled any adult magazines and today checked out the newest issue of Penthouse. Was surprised, but not shocked, to learn they are doing video game reviews on the more adult titles.

Obviously video games are becoming more adult and interest in adult-related gaming continues to rise, now check out page 24 in the August issue to the right of this post and see how Penthouse is slanting their videogame coverage to their readers.

Yowsa, Ivy is “mega-busty” alright. The article doesn’t stop at Ivy, it proceeds to go through a small history of busty female game characters like Rachel from Ninja Gaiden, Kasumi from Dead or Alive, Noble Rose from Rumble Roses and Christie Monteiro from Tekken 4.

X-rated games on videogame consoles?
I’m curious — and this question is intended for mature, ADULT gamers, not those under 18 — how long before we see X-rated video games on console systems? Doubtful if this does happen the company will be Nintendo (Wii doubt it, Mario fans), but what about the Xbox 360 and PS3? Will either test these waters?

Sony might be positioned with interactive Blu-ray technology. Now that HD-DVD is out of the picture one has to wonder how motivated Sony will be to add more interactive features to Blu-ray movies. Since the PS3 doubles as a Blu-ray player, this could be one place where adult game vendors start making inroads.

Or maybe it will be the Xbox 360 with its Creator Club which allows anybody to make games might see an x-rated market emerge? I would think some type of homebrew market is the only way in the near future you’ll see x-rated games on any of the current crop of game consoles.

Have I missed out on some adult-only titles for the Xbox 360 and PS3? There have been adult games made for past systems, some of them pixelated and laughable, not erotic, like Custer’s Revenge on the Atari 2600. Adult games on console systems in 2010? Sooner? Later? What do you think?

172.5 Meg of new download for Kaneva awaited my logging into their world this morning. It took me two tries to be able to download it all, my first try I reached just over 100 megs and had a server time out, which should have forewarned me of what was to come.

Yesterday was the day new avatars came to Kaneva!

They can actually be made to look somewhat better than these examples, by working with a few clickable arrows and a slider or two, but much diversity is still allowing user created content.

I logged into the Kaneva’s world upon completion of the download and nearly had a heart attack when I reached my apartment and found every texture I had placed had been replaced with the texture of a new Kaneva T-shirt. Thank goodness I lost server connection and had to log back in again…. and my L.S.U. Textures were back in place.

I decided to go to the mall and spend some of my reward credits on all the new men’s clothes, as I do not particularly enjoying wearing the same thing everybody around me is wearing. I teleported to the mall, which only had 58 people in it when I arrived, only to move about three steps then freeze up and after a few moments lost access to the server again.

At this point I figured I may as well check on the Kaneva web page to see if they were mentioning anything going on with the servers. Couldn’t find out anything about the wold servers, but found this shopping catalog page, where there were listed samples of the new women’s clothing.

They also have pictured in the shopping catalog pictures of the empty apartments so you might get a very limited idea on what you are wanting to buy for an apartment…. hardly anyone would want the closet they start you off in.

I wanted to go back to the mall and buy some clothes, and I tried again. I was heading for a clothing store when I noticed there was a Kaneva Bank over in one of the corners of the center of the mall. I went to see how much Kaneva Credits were going to cost, but found it was a depository for items you didn’t want to carry around with you, rather than a place to exchange dollars for credits and visa-versa.

I turned and headed for the clothing store and again loss the server. When I tried to get back into Kaneva I received an error message…. basically showing me the servers were down.

I can only assume that the good folks at Kaneva are pulling their hair out about now… trying to work out their “bugs”. I will make an attempt here in a little while to go back into Kaneva and see what has changed, and try to buy some clothes with these worthless reward credits I have.

I had been trying for days to reach someone in the offices of Kaneva, leaving messages in various voice mails with contact information…. without success. I finally got intouch Chris Klaus’s personal assistant and very late last Tuesday recieved a call from Rich “Tisirin” Weil, Community Relations Director at Kaneva.

Rich explained things are very busy there in Atlanta, with them preparing to change to larger offices, and trying to roll out the new avatars, clothing and graphics. Which I thought he said would be done before last Thursday, but either I misunderstood or they ran into more trouble than they thought they would. “Tisirin” told me he would be happy to answer a few questions, but suggested that I wait until after the new things were placed in world…. which I agreed to do.

Tonight I went into Kaneva and saw the announcement that the new avatars and clothes would be released in world Tuesday June 19.

After seeing the picture above I am not getting the warm and fuzzies over these new avatars, but I guess they will be better than the avatars given by Second Life before we purchase new skin and hair etc….

The signs stating Stress Tests will be taking place 3 days a week are still in place, so at this time it appears that people will still be able to “earn” reward credits.

More and more friends have been talking about the lack of things to do and accomplish in Kaneva and wondering just what opportunities will become available to them once Kaneva comes out of beta. Of course most of those contacts have been complaints, and I have passed these along with a few others to Rich Weil and received an email telling me that he was working on getting the answers from the proper people more in the know than himself. We are going to try to get together Wednesday or Thursday on the phone to discuss these and other Kaneva matters.

3D immersion not possible… lack of control of your viewer… gaps to wide for the subconscious to fill to feel a sense of virtual being real.

about new features being announced as coming soon, and no one knowing what the heck soon means.

the change of the economy where all your credits were converted into reward credits… which can be used to purchase things, but those things can not be sold or given away.

not know if purchases with “bought” credits can be sold or given away

lack of ability to create

lack of control over texturing

lack of folders to organize pictures, textures etc.

The inability to receive responses from Kaneva staff

Kaneva, up to this point has been a major disappointment, but I am still holding out hope that another virtual world can become responsive to user’s needs.

Keneva’s New Forum

Keneva has happily announced the opening of new and improved Official Kaneva Forum, but actually getting keneva responses are still few and far between and spam has sat on the forum for days.

I did find this on the Forum and since I can not find the TOS any longer (serves up an error message) I thought I would publish this here.

Kaneva Rules of Conduct

I have to say, although I like sims which have grown organically with a little added here and there each week, there is something to be said for having a style and plan, keeping to a particular time and place, and fitting everything into the style. It works well, looks interesting, and as though exploration would be rewarded. And there are some great shops!

As things have been a little bit tiresome in real life, I have been indulging in a little bit of shopping therapy — all in the line of duty, you understand. I’m looking for the fashion and shopping categories … hmmm, I suppose commerce will have to do.

Some people change their avatar’s clothes all the time, and some stick with one outfit that they like and hardly ever seem to change their appearance. Some cycle through whole new avatars, changing from furry to vampyre to person to tiny as the whim seizes them.

I have always been somewhere in the middle, in that I often stick with the same look and outfit for ages, and then I will suddenly have an urge to change my appearance and will either go in search of the right clothes, or spend ages doing the SL equivalent of getting out all my stuff on the bed and deciding none of it fits me any more.

Occasionally I will buy an odd item on impulse, and then find that I don’t have a thing to wear with it. I bought a wonderful cloak from Night Sky by Shaoshan Llanfair some weeks ago, and had wondered what on earth I could wear with it. As you can see from the picture if I have successfully uploaded it, the cloak is black velvet with fur trim, and I had a yen to go all Lara Croft with it.

Then, I happened to see via a post on Spin’s blog, through a post on the Men’s Second Style, that some good boots were on sale, and thought I would check those out. Things are rezzing slooowly for me, and they appeared in confusing clutter of rubbish trucks and walls, but I soon found the boots, tried the demo, and bought a pair.

I already had my free Numbakulla trousers, the cloak and the boots, so I needed something to finish off the outfit and found myself at Chaospire, which has been one of my favourite places for as long as I can remember. Devyn Grimm’s clothes are unusual and I thought they went splendidly well with the whole ensemble.

So I have been stomping around SL like a vampyrish Tomb Raider, swirling cloak floating out behind. It works for me, at present.

Now prims can have a flexible path so it can bend with the wind and have other characteristics. You can also have prims that give off light. I tried some playing around with these new stuff but don’t fully understand everything about it. I think both of this stuff is client based. You can link up flex prims to one solid prim but can’t have a prim at the end of a flexible prim. I had the idea of linking up a balloon to a flexible prim but couldn’t do it.

I attended a class at Teazers Isle on how to do a dr. seuss type of hat that using a flex prim. The hat sways when I walk around and it looks quite funny. That was the first object I made with flex prims but wanted to create something by myself and play with the settings a bit.

So I figured out how to make a scarf which moves with the wind and when I move around. I don’t think it looks that great or sways correctly but for my first clothing type thing it’s ok for me. I also tried using the light feature on my scarf so I can see everything around me when it turns dark. The lighting is very easy to understand. Intensity for how bright the light will be. Pick a color for the light to show and the radius it will expand to. I am not too sure what the fallout option means so if someone can explain them or any of the options in the flex it would be very helpful! One thing I noticed is when I sit down my flexible scarf wants to go up sometimes. I’ll have to try some stuff to figure why it does that later.

I found a video that Tao Takashi did for his blog/vlog. Episode 2 shows off the flexible prims and lights in the preview grid before the update was done. He also has a new video of how the lights look inside the main grid after the update at his main page.
